Looking for Ocean City Info (Tudor/Mistral Mid-Atlantic Regionals)

Ocean City, Maryland, USA, that is.  The Tudor/Mistral Mid-Atlantic
Regionals will be there July 9-10.  I'm thinking of a Saturday night stay
business trip to Maryland anyway, so I'm considering going to the
regatta.  Can anyone tell me about the conditions typical of this time?
I assume they're sailing in the ocean. I would sail the IMCO (charter
board).  I'd prefer wind, lots of it, like 15-25 mph.  What's the water
temp like? Would a shorty be OK, or should I bring a longjohn w/ jacket
just in case?
Thanks in advance.
(Mike Jarriel, I lost your e-mail address, can you e-mail me. I thought
you would know all about this site and regatta.)

there is no wind in ocean city this time of year
plus you will be racing the collins course
which means straight up wind straight down wind with no, I repeat
NO REACHING. just bring a bathing suit and maybee a jacket
also bring food and water because the last race i went to in o/c
(a few weeks ago) they didn't supply anything not even prizes  oh yea
they did give us a hat for our 25 dollar entry fee
hk knight.

This has been the best year down there since I can remember. You must not go
very often.  It, literally has blown in O.C. and/ or Dewey almost 4-5 days a week
for the past 8 weeks.  I've had more good days in the Ocean in the last 2
months than I've had in the last year.  The bay side has been blowing great
almost every afternoon (thermals) also.

There's wind.  Comne and get it.

Of cours, nowthat I've written this it will cut off.

Bring a shorty, it's warm.

Have Fun and Good Luck,

Brian

The last race in Ocean City was the Material World Regatta
held in May.

Keith is correct, the course was windward/leward with a
gate in the middle.  It is much easier to set and emliminates
the reach parade.  Unfortunately it's not as much fun, especially
for heavy guys, if you can't plane, off the wind on a DEEEP reach.

Bottled water was available at the race site all day Saturday.
I am not sure they had any on Sunday.

There was a barbecue after Saturday's racing at the sailing site
(Mellow Beach Yacht Club) that included hamburgers, hotdogs, and
lots of salad stuff.  Beer and sodas were also provided.

Prizes were awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in IMCO, Sport, and
Open Fleet.  There were not any 7.5 class prizes, masters
prizes, youths, or more detailed break outs.

The July race likely will be very hot with 5-10 knots
of wind.  It is "possible" that it will be windy, you
never know.  The last four days there have been steady
25 knot southerly breezes in Ocean City.

The East Coast Championship is July 9-10 and will be located
at the Mellow Beach Yacht Club located at 47th st in Ocean
City, MD.  Entry fee is $50.  Several parties and meals are
planned.  Contact Sailing Etc at 410-723-1144 for more
info.
