Wardog,

Those pix are great!  But how could you fail to recommend:

   /fab1.html

YeeHa!  That's "cowboying up" as you like to say!

Is he riding a Quattro board?

        Thanks,

It's arrived and ready to go.  I didn't make it to the coast
last weekend, though, only got out on the Formula gear.  I'm
hoping it's still blasting Friday.

        Thanks,

Just a quick question, I'm curious, what's the "yellow / brown" trails at
out sea past the break - you can see it in a few of the pics?
Is it algae / weed or just the sun reflecting on it - I'm curious

Regards
WC

kelp.

Great shots, Warren.  Looks like I'm heading out for a long weekend ~ June
9-12 to visit Dvpt. and Cambria. I hope you'll be in the neighborhood.

Hi Gavin,
Kelp forests...Macrocystis Pyrifera...Giant Kelp...
It can grow up to 2' per day...

http://www.oceanlight.com/lightbox.php?x0=natural_world&x1=habitat&x2...

It's a rush blasting through and along the edge of the kelp beds...super
fast H20...oils from the kelp reduce the surface tension of the H20 and
the kelp also buffers and attenuates wind chop...

Alan,

I'll let you know if you miss anything during your trip out west. :)

We had classic Hatteras last weekend, SW 5.2 and headhigh on Friday at
S-Turns, NE and 5.2 at the lighthouse on Saturday, then SW and 5.7 in Salvo
on Sunday.   Great weekend to work on both tacks, finnally sunburn weather
as my nose and checks are still hurting.

Wave Washed in Hatteras

Alan-

If you come this way, give me a shout.  Dunno if you still have my
number, but my e-mail is edscott.  It's at the best.com domain.  Like I
said, we just got done with 4 days of logo+ swell and 4.7 wind.  Look
forward to seeing you.

Does it get ripped out when you have big storms - currently we're plagued by
various weeds being rippped up off the sea bed from the winds at the weekend
and then dumped on the beach, and with big spring tides this week and temps
forecast for 27 degrees circa 75f it will start to whiff.......also is the
nail in the coffin for any one using a big board / sail / fin setup as they
just end up trailing a load of weed - so now we just use wave kit, it will
disapear, but as soon as we get another storm, the next batch will come
in....

Have just had 6 days out of 6 with yesterday well powered on 4.2 - however,
there's hardly any swell at the moment even way out the back (1.5 / 2miles)
where we can usually ride the running swell.......never mind at least we're
out on the water.........

There has been quite a bit of action on the streaming cam, but probably, due
to the time difference when you're all asleep - and now we're in for more
marginal conditions but at least we're now in the sea breeze season as
things start to warm up - so even with a little breeze in the morning that
can develop to a goo 18 -20 mph in the afternoon - but with only a few small
mushy ramps!!!

Great hospitality you guys. Better than the 'Southern Hospitality' we pride
ourselves on over here. Jarrett is fixing me up with some loaner gear and
I'll be incognito in a rented min van.....hopefully, at the secret spot
Thursday afternoon on the 9th and maybe the 10th. On the 10th and 11th I'm
supposed to be down in Cambria. Hopefully, Wardog, WillV, Brian C. and I
will have a couple of good days there too. Don't know if Jarrett can make
that side journey.

Just look for the bald guy <g>

Thanks, Ed.

Yeah, it looks like you guys are having a good week out there. Too bad
nothing's going on this weekend. My girlfriend and I are headed out to do
the Ocracoke-lighthouse thing anyway. Should be coming through Avon on
Saturday-Sunday.

Ciao!
