sun protection for the dome

As I'm follically challenged, I'm looking for a good hat to wear this summer
while windsurfing.  Had a ball cap from patagonia with a waterproof brim
that's no longer available.  Dakine had a wide-brimmed hat that's also no
longer on their web site.   Anyone got one they like?

You might try REI, they usually have stuff like that.

Brian-
My personal favorite is the tilley hat.  They have a nice wide brim all
the way around.  The brim is fairly rigid, so it doesn't become floppy
when wet.  The hats also float.  They also have a pretty clever system
for keeping the hat on your head....it just doesn't come off.

I've used the canvas one (they all come with a lifetime warranty), but
you might want to check out the nylon versions.

Very comfortable.  Kind of pricey, but a great way to keep sun off the
face & head.

Per Brian Sangeorzan:

I get corduroy baseball caps with the plastic adjustment strap in the back.
Plastic because they're flat.  Other types cause a problem.

If I take a pair of pliers and remove the little button on top, it becomes more
user-friendly for walking with a board balance up there.

Corduroy because if you get it wet, it has enough mass to stay on the head.

I look for deals and let it be known to close family members that this is a
no-brainer birthday/Christmas gift.   I've never paid more than $3.00 per hat.
Lately, my #2 daughter's been covering me - getting a couple or three each
Christmas/birthday.

I have one of these, and it's all that it's cracked up to be.  Very nice,
stiff brim, not to large to block vision, secured with a chin strap, padded
head (not hot) that helps keep my skull happy when carrying a board.

How about a helmet?  It will protect your scalp and your noggin.  Plus,
it makes it a lot easier to carry your gear on your head.

Hmm, seems like the only way to buy is thru Pay Pal??

Maybe, but you could always send Phil McGain an e-mail via  www.theteam.us
and see if he will take a check.  I'm sure it will be no problem.
