Not so much "lurking" as glancing in the rear view mirror every week or two
at a train wreck out of waning, morbid curiosity.

Once upon a time we could debate WSing topics, even OT stuff, here
passionately, rationally, civilly and impersonally. That was fun and
educational, and gave good stoke. But in the past 2-3 years the forum has
been hijacked by character assassins who (these aren't debatable; they're
straight from the archives):
*** newbies asking old questions,
put down people who don't shred Jalama,
insist any gear they don't sell is cra,
pitch their gear and attack others' sales pitches,
try to control or even block others' passionate, impersonal debate of
WSing topics,
ask for advice then attack earnest responders,
incessantly call others liars and bigots but can never back it up with
facts,
*** anyone with ideas, politics, or life experiences different from
theirs,
claim they know more about our personal and professional lives than we do,
pursue people to unrelated forums to continue their unilateral flame wars,
glorify their self-admitted vendettas by saying they're "calling BS" on
their targets,
can't support their accusations with facts,
simply switch attacks when shot down by facts, and
repeatedly demonstrate their preference for personal flame wars over
rational discourse and for fighting rather than resolving.

By itself, such behavior merely reflects on the attackers, not on their
targets, and is readily solved with PLONKS. The problem is that their venom
has poisoned the well and permeated the forum with people who silently
tolerate, thus enable, and often even emulate their vile behavior. I've
really been surprised at some of the people who have stooped to this
behavior recently, such as the implication last month that I distorted Bart'
s injury circumstances. I've really been surprised at some of the people who
have stooped to this behavior recently, such as the implication last month
that I distorted Bart's injury story. Another stalked me into another forum
to *** me there, and I even have reason to believe another intervened
with a windsurfing industry job offer to me.

We all occasionally DO jerky things unintentionally, but WARHOLE and the two
Wills (aka the three W's), their gullible groupies, and many of their clones
have demonstrated that they ARE pre***ly jerks, thinly cloaked in
calculated, "kewl" facades. IMO, their behavior here has poisoned what was
once an oasis of information, enjoyment, and debate, has driven off many
lurkers and newbies who see just another alt.fordvchevy.fu, and thus does
far more harm TO windsurfing than they do FOR it. I don't play their
children's games, and consider life too short and sweet to waste it on
people who do. (Think West Point Honor Code with the addition of the word,
"abuse".) Didn't anyone notice that when someone praised this group's
civility a few months ago, not one person agreed? Has no one noticed that
even national elections are recoiling from such hate-filed, intolerant
people? Does anyone think WARHOLE's alleged nice treatment of paying
customers and sailing buds makes up for his putrid behavior here?

It was disgusting seeing the W's and others repeatedly and freely flame
people who confined their discussion to the issues, and seeing only 3 or 4
people speak out against them. Everyone else ignored or even joined in the
ad hominem even after Bill stuck to his fins rather than stooping to respond
to WARHOLE in vitriolic kind, when WARHOLE stomped what he considered a dumb
newby question, when Will V specifically asked for my comments on jumping
then called my stoked, instructive, responsive riff "vomit", and when
WARHOLE revealed and ripped into Pete's personal life. WARHOLE and many of
his copycats constantly accused me of factual exaggeration, lying, flaming,
bigotry, and/or making stuff up, even after I rationally and impersonally
disproved endless WARHOLE ad hominem lies with FACTS, some even straight
from the Surfingsports website. In fact, the closest I've come in >20,000
posts to factual misrepresentation is some ***dude's counterclaim against
my lifetime Texas resident brother's statement about a point in Texas law.

I responded to two years of flames with topical facts, logic, and opinions
as long as the group still meant something to me, but ultimately its
disgusting pack behavior destroyed my respect for and interest in what was
once a great group. Some others whose names we seldom see any more expressed
the same revulsion when they left. If WARHOLE & Assoc. want to call our
departure from r.w a victory, they're welcome. IMO, however, it's the FORUM
this behavior has beaten down, not the many individuals who have switched
off their endless personal harangues.

You people are welcome to wallow compliantly in such vitriol. But when I saw
that the WARHOLE mentality still pervaded r.w when I visited again after my
forced absence last winter, I removed my rec.w link from my browser, banned
my rec.w tee shirts to my garage and backyard where the public can't see
them, and just lost interest.

I'm through battling such myths as: there is only one way to get into the
foot straps, the right boom height for shredding never allows resting the
boom on the board tail, you can't weight your mastfoot without walking up to
it and stepping on it, cams are necessary, we can't maintain full beam reach
speed throughout an entire jibe, and the only way to windsurf on lakes is in
straight lines. Drink your Koolade and believe them.

Kudos, admiration, and, frankly, amazement for Pete, Ray, and Bill for
expressing opposition to the WARHOLE School of Debate, and a greasy,
dribbling, lumpy Bronx cheer to those who support it.

Mike, don't give up! I've found your insights, offerings and perspectives very useful over
the years. Especially as I was getting into this game and learning the complexities of this
sport. In fact, gurlie is going through the same exercise right now and has bookmarked, and
been meditating on, your classic ng post on waterstarting.

I've appreciated your enthusiasm and courtesy in responding to newbie questions and stuff
over the years. Your perspective is valuable and necessary as it gives this group another
dimension. Agenda or not, the more diverse the voices here, the more informed our choices as
sailors and consumers.

Mike Fickshun crawls out from beneath his beloved Hanford Nuke Plant to
spew forth:

A bunch of lies and ***that he wouldn't even think about confronting
me with in *real* life...nor would any of the other spineless cowards
chiming in, for that matter...they'd shrivel up like peanuts...only got
to about 2 lines in to see that he's still as full of ***and deranged
as ever...sheesh...it even got worse...if that's possible...

BTW, I'll accomodate anyone that thinks that way and has the cojones to
back it up in person...bring it on...let's get Western with it...anytime
you feel froggy just jump...it'd be quite entertaining...but, you don't
deserve any more of my time you old bombastic, deranged, washed up
geezer...go teach your wife to sail or do something useful and
productive before you croak...like go away...

IDEA!!!

Before you go, why don't you write 58 letters...one for each of the U.S.
troops that have been killed since April 28, 2005...and send them to
their families... rationalizing in your sick warmongering mind why the
war in Iraq was such a great cause and why YOU personally didn't lay
your life down for it...

Enjoy yourself...we had a record day of business here at
SurfingSports...funny how that works...

Meeting a group of friends for dinner to celebrate...SALUD!!!

Damn dude...  How do you really feel?  ;-)

One word - filters.  And the ability to ignore the self-appointed
helps.  Plus I figure any ***that a person spews comes back to
haunt them in spades.  That's karma.  And the windsurfing I've come
to love is all about the karma.  I just hope I've done enough good to
undo the ***I spewed before I realized how wrong it was.

Let me invite you to Mexico, you spineless, HYPOCRITICAL, poser, beeatch
KOOKS...ahhhh...feeling better already...;-)
I know that you don't have the cojones to throw down with your shiite

stay home...better yet, why don't you yellow belly, cowardly eunuchs
just STFU?!?!

You really are pathetic, ignorant, kooks that aren't getting any more of

worthy...you don't deserve it...unless, you want to make it *real* and
tangible...meet me across the border and I will gladly accomodate you
near a certain windsurfing mecca that you never talk about, because you
are way too much of a chicken shiite to go...
What a joke...there isn't a one of you that will step up and take the
challenge...what's that you say???

Cluck, cluck, cluck...pecking away like the HYPOCRITICAL losers that you
are, pissing into the wind...Cluck, cluck, cluck...don't you have

You don't even have the spine to pick up the phone and call me on my

Yeah, right.... uh-huh.... not much wind in these parts??   Coulda
sworn I put on a 4.2 yesterday and experienced an epic day at
Stevenson.  Maybe it was just my imagination...also imagined that the
air temp got up into the 80's.  Iwindsurf sensor picked up the 40+
winds yesterday on the Washington side, however there was much more
wind on the Oregon side..... course, that was prolly my creative
imagination playing tricks on me again.  More Gorge wind dreams are
forecast for today.... as well as the weekend.... but it's all just
wishful thinking.

Nope, no wind in this little pond here...!!  Everyone should go down to
the Baja where *real* windsurfers go.  : )

just give up on this thread, the "idea" thread and any others that might

Mike,

You're waterstarting tips - and for that matter, your jibing tips (these are
manifests BTW), are helpful I suppose to those trying to learn the sport -
it EVERYTHING ELSE IN BETWEEN that you're really full of shit (FOS for
future reference)! ....at least that what it seems like based on your long
posts.

The "BS" that is called is when someone - anyone says that some gear or
technique is "the best" or "only way to go" when they have not ever
sailed/tried other before!  That's real BS IMO.  I got burned a number of
times buying gear based on a magazine recommendation - or even worse, an ad
in the magazine, and tried tips from others - yes, even you.  But ultimately
I found "my own way" based on some fundamental techniques and tips from many
good sailors.

Now if you're using the gear and you like it and it's "great" - well that
good information that should be shared....(even if it's about the "Trilites"
that Pete talks about - good for Pete for loving his gear).

That's why rec.WS is so great - you can find someone who is approximately
your size, assess their abilities and ask questions re: gear that works for
them - in their sailing conditions, and then relate that to your own sailing
circumstances....a much more specific means of determining gear selection,
without a "try before you buy" setup in your own backyard.

Now as far as your jumping issue with me - it was clear once again that you
were FOS when I asked about skying airs and landing them still planing -
your reply was so totally sensationalized, and you wrote a million words
which leads me to believe that all you want is to see yourself in
writing....and furthermore, I see that anyone who writes that much about a
simple topic, is NOT someone who I would want to take advice from - you
admitted that you were kook-sailor that finally got it after so many years,
and "thousands" of blown jibes - I don't want to learn "your way" - I want a
more productive way of learning.

So there we are Mike - I don't care to read your "verbal vomit" anymore, and
you don't care about mine - so there's no problem.....but wait why did you
raise an issue now??  Hmmm.... not sure but I bet something is going on over
there that is making you very mad ?????   Please share - I'm sure someone on
the ng is ready to read volumes about yourself....just not me....and I don't
even "Plonk" you!

Remember Mike, a picture is worth a thousand words - just post some sort of
pic's to go with your words and the truth will be known...

There has been a new paradigm in Windsurfing knowledge and gear acquisition
(you don't have to make a trip to the Gorge or Maui to buy the best gear) -
and you can sniff out real information from "sensationalized" info pretty
darn easy these days with just a few keystrokes (or thousands in your case
Mike) - maybe that's why you have "gone away" in this forum??  Or are you
back????  Only time will tell.

-WillV-
