Aruba Pro-Am, anyone gone?

Aruba Pro-Am, anyone gone?

Post by Matt Melv » Mon, 22 Apr 1996 04:00:00

Hey there,

I'm getting married in June and looking at Aruba for honeymoon.
Through sheer coincidence, the Aruba Hi Winds Pro Am is on during the
week we're looking at going, heh heh....

My question:  Have you ever been there for the event, and is the
island too frigging busy to do anything (line ups for restaurants
etc.) or should we not be concerned?

Many thanks in advance for any wisdom.

Matt.

The ice is off the river up here, woohoooo!.....

I've race'd in it in the past and had a lot of fun. There are more
windsurfing peole than usual during the high winds but this is only a
dent in the otherwise large crowd of *** going sun bathing crown that
congregates in Aruba. June is a slow month for the sun bathers. It is
before schools are off and when it is warm in Europe and the U S.
Therefore, fewer tourists than say Christmas or February. 250 sailors or
so will be there as well as some assorted camp followers. Aruba has more
than 10,000 rooms for rent. Where do you plan to stay? Hugh

Hi Hugh, thanks for the reply.

We're booked in at the Tamarijn Aruba Beach Resort; any good/bad
things to say about it? Actually, forget the bad stuff, we're booked
and paid so I don't want to hear it!  <g>

I don't really know the Tam. I have a house on the water in Aruba about
1/2 mile towards the lighthouse from Fishermans Huts so I don't visit the
hotels much. Call the Aruba Tourist Bureau 1 800 to Aruba and ask them
for their brochure with the map that shows the hotels. It will show you
where it is relative to the race site. Are you bringing your own
equipment? You might need to trent a car if you do. I don't think the Tam
is convenient to the site. Hugh
