PUNTA SAN CARLOS, BAJA

Dear Fellow Windsurfers,

First of all this posting is from me, only me, and not any of the activist
groups committed to the preservation of PSC.

My purpose in writing this letter is to apply pressure on Solosports, a tour
group operator at my beloved beach.  If you are not familiar with this
situation a complete record of all communications is available at
windsurf.net/friends, a web page sponsored by The Friends of San Carlos. In
brief a completely pristine wavesailing spot in Baja is being threatened
with commercialization by Solosports.

Many actions and counteractions have taken place over the last several
months and one huge question remains---Is Solosports going to build
permanent structures? The principals of Solosports have been repeatedly
asked this question and to this date have not responded. Their lack of
response to this makes me beleive that they are. Building  would be the
beginning of the end of what we have all come to love about PSC---it's
primitive.

I would like to ask any of you who are considering spending time with
Solosports this upcoming season to please hold off on making your
reservation until this question is answered. If you are truly interested in
coming to PSC please contact the Friends of San Carlos and I am sure they
would rather help you come and camp than see you stay with Solosports.

Please help protect one of the last pristine wavesailing spots.

But it is not "your" beloved beach. You are not the owner. You are not
the leaseholder - Solosports is. And I assume that you are not even Mexican.

There is nothing wrong with building a small hotel at San Carlos.
There are existing permanent structures at San Carlos.

Mexican citizens have no voice in determining what a property owner
in California can do with his beachfront property. Likewise,
American surfers cannot mandate their own zoning rules on Mexican territory.

So Bruce, I guess Solo is planning on taking the new higher camping
fees to finance a hotel. He has always dodged that question, but it
sure makes sence. Why else would he want a 30 year lease?. I also
heard that he is kicking out the trailer owner in the yellow box so
that he can move in and open a taco stand and store.

Dear Rob,

Are you the same guy who told the world to "stay off my wave"? Did you turn
gay?
Did you go to diplomacy school? Have you been talking with those ultra-nice
guys at the FoSC? HAVE YOU LOST YOUR ***ING MIND?
Let's get back to what will work. Torch the camp. Scare the guests. Act like
it's Santa Cruz.

Your brother for the cause,
