'93 Screamer

For the past few years I have been sailing a Mistral Shredder (128L) and
have enjoyed many good sailing days.  Unfortunately, I have had numerous
problems with broken fins and a blown out fin box.  As a result, I decided
to sell my board and shop around for a new board with a power box.

I have been considering the 93 Mistral Screamer (103L) but I am concerned
that this board may limit may sailing days quite a bit.  I am 6'1" and
195lbs and sail in Kingston, Ontario.

If anyone has any comments or experience with the Screamer, I would be happy
to hear from you.  Please respond ASAP.

Thanks

I had a 91 Screamer Xr for one year, and I loved it. I sold it when the Energy
came, but must admit that I haven't sailed any boards that come close to the
user friendly Screamer. It's simply the most fun board made, and it's competive.

For 2 years I sailed exclusively on a shredder and loved it (in all kinds of
conditions 4.0 - 7.2).  Then I bought a screamer from a friend as my 'short
board'.  The screamer has got to be one of the easiest boards to sail and will
keep up with most other boards I've seen.  If you are looking to maximize your
sailing time, you'll probably want to stick with the shredder (especially at
195).  But, let me warn you, if you start sailing the screamer, you won't want
to go back to the shredder too often.  I still have both boards, but I usually
wait till the wind is 6.0 so I can ride the screamer.  I guess I've become a
wind snob :-).

Hope that helps,
Scott
