Warren Miller's "Go With The Windsurfer"

Warren Miller's "Go With The Windsurfer"

I`ve only been subscribed to rec.windsurfing for a six months, so this may
have already been mentioned. Anyway...

I recently purchased a new Warren Miller video called Go_With_The_Windsurfer
for a "desperate for any kind of windsurfing fix" party we were having here in
the SF bay.

Like any Warren Miller film, it is FULL of beginner follies, sailing follies,
folly follies, corny jokes, etc, plus an indian masquerading as the
"Wind Spirit". (While these are my least favorite Millerisms, they do help make
the film palatable for a non-sailing audience)

It has the best production values of any windsurfing video I've seen.
Great action photography, quality music, chasing helicopters, and high
resolution slo-mo. He uses some of the best sailors in the world, including
Naish, Boyd, Kalama, Polokow, etc. He only visits two areas: (you guessed it)
the Gorge and Maui. The final sequences, sailing at sunset on Maui, are
truly inspiring.

Anyway, it squashes your average manufacturer's promo video like a grape.
Running time: about an hour. With shipping, it cost $26. The direct ordering
number is 1-800-523-7117 ext 01.

No, I am not affiliated in any way with Warren Miller, I categorically deny
any wrong doing, I'm not a crook, I cannot comment on that at this time,
(insert any other political denial statements here), etc, etc.

Is that the video where they keep showing these two "Green Board builders"
who sell their boards out of a van in the Gorge?  That***got old quick,
IMHO.  Otherwise the video was fun to watch.

These people have no shame.  My book `Gone with the Windsurf' hasn't
been published yet, and its title has already been stolen TWICE!  --Luigi

Before I express my opinion on this video let my state my biasis:
1) I went to the Gorge one summer with two days of 0mph and one windy day
when I tore a ligament in my knee trying a forward.
2) I was born and raised in Hawaii.
I personally was very unimpressed with Miller's video - cute but
not the high energy video I was looking for.  (Does anyone out there
believe that guy has done 2 forwards and is trying for 3? not me...)
If you want an action-packed video with outstanding shots, tricks
and music with some ok interviews with Robby, et al. check out Gaastra's
"Heart and Sould" video.  Only 'bout 30min but a wild ride!
