I just happen to be at university now and can speak on this topic rather
well. I`m at uni Kent and it sucks here, not the actual position of the
place, but the equipment itself is abysmal. Southampton is a good
university for this (I have a friend there!) and Sussex is really good
too (I tried to get in there). Exeter, Plymouth are 2 other unis to note
for their excellent positioning. As for the raceboard comment -  well
there are a lot of raceboards, but 99% of the people I know sail
shortboards, especially during the winter when the wind howls to 4m
weather. Bring a warm suit too as if you are slighly near the east
coast, it is the North sea and really cold. Do not go to a uni in
Scotland under no circumstances. It gets really cold there and can be
life threatening although there is the bonus of uncrowded waters :-).
We have an excellent number of windsurfers about (you`ll already know
that if you live here) and there are some of amazing standard (although
if you are American you might think the best windsurfers are American)

n e way ,
choose well and may the wind blow

Harlo Ppl

I am going to study in UK next year. At the moment I am sailing
 competitively in Mistral One Design.
Can anybody tell me which Universities offers competitive
windsurfing, or which Universities are close to good sailing areas, sailing
 facilties and good sailors?
I have chosen the following Universities :
      1. Sheiffield
      2. Loborough
      3. Sussex
      4. Surrey
      5. Birmingham
      6. Aberdeen

Are any of the mentioned Universities have windsurfing in it? Isit
true that Windsurfing is more active in the Southern parts....and
Raceboards are more popular in U.K?
      Thanks for any info given.

 Million Thanks
   Wee

Absolutely! This also has the added bonus that you will be a safe
distance from Tiree. Under no circumstances should you venture anywhere
near Tiree. You have been warned!
