Just ask Wayne Stryker (Doug's dad) about the jetskier he pulled from
shallow water in Islamorada a few years ago when the jet skier
apparently turned abruptly into a boat. That guy didn't make it through
the night. Thankfully none of the windsurfers in the area got hit before
the guy did himself in. I almost freaked out the following year in that
same area when another jetskier started operating in a dangerous,
menacing manner around me as I came in to the finish line at the
Islamorada Pro-Am Regatta. Luckily, I was able to exit the water without
being killed or maimed due to his recklessness. Guys like that are one
of the reasons why jetskis are being banned in many places. Jetskis
don't need to be killing machines but some operators make them just
that.
