Anyone have any ideas on choice of a 7 metre sail for a 277 freeride
,MY choice is between Gaastra 4 X ,3X or a north pyro.Early planing
is more important than top end .

I sailed the Gaastra 2x 7m and loved it so I would guess that the 3x and
4x are equally (probably better for what you want) good.
Whats the biggest size sail that poeple sail on their 270ish board? I
have a Vivace 270 which is about 96 litres and my biggest sail is
currently a 6.5 but I was thinking of getting a 7m for those twitchy
days. Anybody tried anything that big on something that small??
cheers
Nic
Depends on your weight and conditions. Have sailed as much as a 7.5 on a
Bic Tempo (265/ 95 liters). I weigh 145 lbs. If the wind is consistent
(so you are waterstarting and not uphauling too much) and you are smaller,
its not too difficult. You may want to think about a larger fin since
you'll probably be using the larger sail in lighter winds and will
probably need the extra lift.

William

I suppose there are other factors ie. technique, etc but the right fin
seems to make the biggest, most noticable impact for me - I'm a bigger
guy, 230lbs. You can e-mail any of the fin mfg's and ask their advice
for your particular setup. Gotta love e-mail....
Great sailing!

Personally i'll stay with a 6.5 and 95 l as largest board --
if i don;t get going with that it's not that great anyway.

Im also owning the 270 Bic Vivace and the biggest Im surfing is 6.8 NP VX,
works good but in my opinion bigger is too big ( too heavy and too big for
this 96 Liter board ) I weight 81 kg
