Chinook mastfoot with dampers????

Anybody has any comments on the new Chinook Mastfoot which seems to have a
damper (probably to reduce vibrations on the hands). Is it worth the price
(it is relatively expensive around 140$ in Lebanon)?

If you're referring to the Chinook mast base with the shock-absorber...
I saw
that some of the better rental places are using them. I'm told that they
ease
the pounding on the board where the mast connects. User benefits are
supposedly that it's smoother and less shock transmitted to the hands,
while
still having the same forward driving force.

I tried one, but I'm not that experienced/aggressive a sailor, so I
didn't
really notice a difference. The pro's seemed to like it.

The Hydroshok was discussed here at length a few months ago, and the general
consensus was that it noticeably improves the ride for both board and the
rig, and thus the sailor. It lets the board move more freely on rough water,
transmits less chop to the rig, and reduces mast box stress.
