Mast track, fin, footstrap placement

Mast track, fin, footstrap placement

I just picked up an old Mistral Diamond Head for CHEAP at the Madd
Mike's swap meet, figuring to use it for those (frequent) lighter air
days when a smaller slalom board won't do.  Two questions for those in
the know:
1.  What volume is this board?  I seem to recall something like 120 l.
or so.  It's 9'6" in length.  Just curious.
2.  More important.  This board must be at least 4 years old and is
hideously ugly.  One of the more 'eye-catching' features is that the
guy replaced the nice (IMHO) Mistral masttrack and finbox with Chinook
units.  Question is in placement- the masttrack starts about 68" from
the tail of the board, and the fin can not be placed where I would
consider proper location- the leading edge has to end up in the middle
of the second rear strap.  I read in Windrider about proper board
setup (was it Cort Larned?) that the mast track should be about 57" or
perhaps a couple inches more from the tail, and I am wondering if I
should move mine back.  Same for repositioning the footstraps.  Anyone
have strong opinions on this topic?
