Hi Ed!
I took my first windsurfing lesson in Sarasota back in 1992 from an outfit
called Ocean Boulevard Windsurfing. I presume that they still exist - check
a phone book. They used to set up lessons on the causeway which leads out
to St. Armand's Circle - other locals used to show up there on weekends.
It is, of course, flat water.
Up in Clearwater, or thereabout, is the Tackle Shack - actually, I think the
correct town name is Pinellas Park or something like that. Sorry, don't
know the west coast of Florida too well. They're a large outfit which also
does mail order, and reportedly has lots and lots of rental equipment.
Hope you get some wind!
