Need user comments on the Hot Awol Velocity. I am looking for a good deal for
a 6.5 sail and found one at a good price. Windsurfing magazine review
scares me though, since they are always hesitant to say bad things about
their advertisers and did not actually rave about this sail. Maybe that's
the reason for the good price!

Advanced Surf Designs carries this line. One salesman commented that
these sails are not as durable as the North/Pryde lines. But I see a
lot of them at Coyote and many of them are FAST. I haven't sailed one.

I have a quiver of HOT Sails WWOL's and love them. I do have a
6.5 (although I do like the 6.0 more) and it is durable and
stable. In hindsight, I would rather have a full race sail in
the 6.0 or 6.5 size to get the more stable draft with the extra 2
or 3 cambers. But the sail has decent low end and handles being
overpowered well.

i know a guy who hat a hot sails race. it was the sail he used the most,
he only got 1 1/2 seasons out of it in new england

I have the Velocity 7.0 (94), plus an older XTR Fun (5.5) and a 4.5 VR.
I find that they are decently made, have great top end, but only fair
low end. If you want a 6.5 that is a good and fairly light slalom
sail, the Velocity is a good bet - especially if it is a decent price.
Also, they are almost pre-twisted for great handling in gusts (my 7.0
can sail in 6.0 conditions). I can normally sail almost a full sail
size bigger than my buddies with the Hots - just add downhaul.
I also rig the 7.0 on a carbon CC North mast - around 25-27 MCS.
The others rig well on soft stuff - around 22-25 MCS.
By the way, I am around 155 #, 5.10, and prefer sailing way-powered.
