"Rescue" off Victoria, BC

Saw a piece on BCTV last weekend about the "rescue" of a windsurfer.
All I caught was the fellow had abandoned his board and was bobbing
around in the surf.  Eventually he made it to shore and the rescue
consisted of a firefighter throwing a blanket over him.  Does anyone
have any more details?

Don't be afraid of BC Jimmer, I have been 6 weeks in Edmonton (Alberta)
and I had the best time of all my life (yet), when I have seen the
Rockies I have said, maybe I'm dead or maybe not, I was kind of
dreaming. I was feeling like somebody who waas able to made about 10
forward loop in the same jump, so don't be afraid thats a beautiful
place out there!

Cu... :)

Victoria sailing is challenging I'll grant; cold, monstre chop, pounding
shore break etc.  But it's sailing and ifandwhen you get comfortable in
those conditions, you'll find sailing in almost any conditions (hoopkipa
and oregon Coast etc notwithstanding) to be a relative breeze.

Also, the standard of sailing is very high so you;ll learn quickly.  The
winter-sailing bunch are also a very tight community and look after each
other very well; great bunch of people.

... and you'll never lack for things to do when you blow off classes to
chase wind.

AS I've said before check out http://www.islandnet/~cpmanuel for more
information on Victoria sailing

Yup.. and what better time to tackle challenges then when young and on still without a
view on the learning curve? You'd better watch it - my gybe might spray you (i'm SURE
i'll have those down in a few years!) <g>
