Fanatic Cat & Fanatic Bee Info

Fanatic Cat & Fanatic Bee Info

Post by Randall Raine » Fri, 01 May 1998 04:00:00

I just came across 2 boards for sail that I guy wants to unload in the
course of a Divorce.  1 board is the Fanatic Cat ?cm and the other a
Fanatic BEE.  I'm looking for some info on the performance of these 2
boards. Especially the Bee.  I dont know the age or excact length of
either board. but right now I have 1 Fanatic 370 Lightwind Race, 1
Fanatic Club 330 Poly board, & 1 '97 Mistral Explosion 315.  Is the Bee
comparable to the 315 in performance is it lighter and better designed
for B&J or Fast Slalom?  The deal would be: The Cat with complete rig
ART 6.4, 1pc Mast & Boom and the BEE just the board for $400.00.
Also what fin boxes are on these boards??

Fanatic Cat & Fanatic Bee Info

The Fanatic Cat was available in several iterations.  The typical size was
210 L.  The Mega Cat was available in 240L.  Both were great boards but
distinctly different.  The regular cat was available until about 1990.  The
Mega cat from then on.  The " regular" Cat was great in planing conditions,
the Mega  Cat great in very light wind conditions.
The older Fanatic Bee should be avoided.  The newer Bee is a state of the
art short board available in several  sizes.

Partly true.  The current Cat is available as a lightweight and stiff
carbon sandwich (270 litres).  It is also possible to buy the Class-X Cat
which is last years model in a much heavier composite construction (250
litres) - I have one of these.  The underhull shape of the Class-X Cat is
identical to the sandwich Cat, although the rails are harder and higher
(due in part to the higher volume).
