Am considering buying one of the closeout EDGEs.
Any pro's and con's on this board from folks who own them?
What's the max sail size?

Opimions of Mistral "EDGE"....

Sam, the Edge is one of the most underrated boards ever, in my opinion.
I first tried one in '94 in Cabarete, and was really impressed with the
speed
and turning of the board.  I'd call it a high performance slalom shape
rather
than a wave or convertible - although it has those magic Naish rails and
rocker
that make hero gybes a breeze.  Still has some extra volume forward, so it
carries bigger sails OK.

In '96 I returned to Cabarete, and sailed several new convertible shapes
like the
Axxis 258, Electron, etc.  They might have been a tad more flexible in wave
usage,
but didn't have much (if any) advantage for swell blasting and B&J sailing.
 Put a Teardrop
or blade fin on it and it really smokes.  I flat landed my rental several
times from some
lofty amateur jumps, and no problem.

I also got to know a visiting sailor from British Columbia while there, and
he had been
stuck on planing gybes for two years.  Given an Edge and two 5.0 days, and
he was
working on pivots and steppers.

I weigh 155, and figure the Edge holds a 6.0 fine for me, as long as its
not a multi-cam
sail.  Probably ideal size is about a 5.5 twin cam.  It would probably
start to feel big below
5.0 for someone my size.  Adjust for your weight as you see fit.  If you
can get one for a
close out price, I'd consider it a steal.

Just my $.02,  hope it helps.
Gary
