I just returned from vacation to find a sign at 3rd Ave warning
against sailing due to unhealthy water conditions. Like many other
diehards, I sailed anyway. Someone mentioned that there was a
phone number posted recently for more info. This posting has long
since expired...

Can somebody please re-post this number with any other relevant info ??
(when it occurred, how long the warning will last, health concerns...).

Sorry for the delay - the field inspector has been sick (maybe we should
ask him how he got sick). He assures me that the repairs to the
sewage plant are completed and there should be no further problems with
the water quality.

However, If you smell anything funny in the future you can call Inspector
Earnest (sp?) at the San Mateo Environmental Health Office (363-4305 x4167).
He is quite helpful so you could probably talk him into doing a field test
just to check things out.
