In New England, Fiberspar markets the Freeskate. In the winter there
are lots of ice races in the Cape Cod area. The rest of teh year, the blades
come off and skateboard wheels go on so you can get a wind fix on a light day
in the parking lot.

Yes a guy died on the salt flats north of Salt lake.  He was a pros sailor
type & hit the ground at about 50 or 60.  I think he broke his neck.  1984,
sketchy details it was awhile ago.  I've also seen some *** recreation
concussions by pavement pounding.

ice skate where ?
I'm currently on the west coast, true.  Ice boards were done in Utah (Salt
Lake, great snake city) at Rush Lake (watcha-ma-callit).  Steel blades on
long boards with trucks.  Bunch of Snowbird skier / sailor types - Dave's
back in SLC after 4 years in Aruba, Ton & Jeff are in the Gorge; me at
Gazos, Scotts, Waddell.
