WHAT: 2001 King and Queen of the Cape Freestyle Pro-Am
WHEN: June 8-10, 2001
WHERE: West Dennis Beach, Cape Cod, Massachusetts
On June 8-10, The Cape Cod Windsurfing Association will be hosting our
third annual international freestyle windsurfing contest called the "King
of the Cape". This contest attracts world-class windsurfers from around the
globe to compete along side local and regional sailors. The Freestyle Pro-Am
is modeled after the Professional Windsurfing Association (PWA) "King of the
Lake" Freestyle Contest on Lake Garda, Italy. Last year we had Pros from
around the globe attend including Marcos Perez, Web Pedric, Josh Stone, and
Brian Talma. 2001 promises to be even more powerpacked. We have several
World Cup Pros tentatively committed to this event as well as the Bonaire
Kids. These high energy youths from the Caribbean nation of Bonaire range in
age from 6-16. They deliver a powerpacked freestyle show for all. With world
cup sailors and the kids King of the Cape is going to go off.
This event delivers non-stop action in almost any weather conditions.
Freestyle events are very visual
like ballet on the water, and are incredibly exciting to watch. Last year's
event was held at West Dennis Beach on Cape Cod Massachusetts and attracted
Professional, Amateur, and Novice sailors of all ages and genders. It was a
huge success with competitors coming from as far as Germany, and Hawaii to
compete for $10,000 in cash. Over the event weekend close to 1000 spectators
came to watch the best of the best duke it out on the water. This coming
we expect to eclipse the previous event in attendance and participation.
