The Nat'l Speed Championships in the Gorge were won by Brad Duffy (45.5)
on a stock F2 270 Sputnik, 3d place was also a stock F2.  Most riders were
on custom boards, but the production boards showed they could- and did-
compete.  The Duffy sail was a North 6.3 -

Unfortunately for the rest of us actively involved in speedsailing, Brad
Duffy will not be "over the the hill" for a long , long time. This human
lever arm is also an awesome tactically bright sailor, unknown to most out
there. He is very difficult to beat, I have gotten by him maybe once or
twice in several years competing with him.  He wins almost every time he
shows up,  I frankly believe he wins more with his mind (skills and
tactics) than with his well prepared equipment and leverage advantages.
