Palm Beach, Florida - locations,e

I'll be travelling to the Palm Beach area in a  couple of weeks and I
was wondering if anyone could offer any advice on several subjects.
I do most of my sailing in Iowa and I use an O'Brien Elite. (Heavy
transitional) with a 6.0 NP.  I'm wondering if it would suitable in
ocean conditions (waves, wind) and any suggestions according.  I
have no intention of doing real wave riding, but I'd like to give it
a try.  The beach I've been to at Juno Beach, FL usually has small waves
and good breezes.  Another location is Lake Worth.   Any other spots to hit
in the area?  I'd appreciate any input on ocean vs. lake sailing and
any other pertinent areas such as equipment, etc.
Thanks,
Patrick.

You could use the O'Brien in the ocean if the seas have not built up
much. As you observed, they don't get big waves, more shore break than
anything else.  Even if that is 2 foot or so, you could walk your board
out past it and then uphaul.  The nice thing about that area is the
water is so clear.  You may want to bring a small weight/anchor and
your snorkel gear, sail till you see a reef or something, and dive in.
If the ocean is too much, try Lake Mangonia, off Australian Ave, near
45th St or Blue Heron Blvd.  Fresh water lake, no power boats or
 power watercraft allowed.

I was in West Palm Beach last October for an IBM conference on OS/2 (what a
joke) and took a look at the beaches around Juno. Windsurfing conditions
looked great with good wind, nice waves, and warm water. I'd say it was way
too much for a big board, but that was in their winter.

The locals told me that the season goes from October through Feb and therefore
I would not expect much at this time of year.
