Maui: Paia & Kahului airport

Hello,

Can somebody tell me if Paia is under the Kahului flight path or not?
Booking accommodation and don't want to be dealing with aircraft
noise. Live near London Heathrow so would like a break from that!

If it is can you suggest self catering cottages that are near
windsurfing beaches and not affected by aircraft noise?

Thanks!

Jon

Paia is close but not directly under the departure path like Sprecks/Camp One.  There two
areas are the only north shore windsurfing 'beaches' with cottages within walking distance.
But the noise is part of the deal.

Assuming you are renting a car, I would recommend staying in Haiku which is about a 5-10
minute drive east of Paia. There are some lovely places up on West Kuliaha road and abouts.
The view, jungle-like atmosphere, and drive down in the AM are worth it.

Hugh

Check out this cottage http://www.haikulani.com  on Maui's Northshore. From
there, it's a 5 minute drive to Ho'okipa Beach, or 20 min. to Kanaha Beach &
the Kahului Airport.

Aircraft noise is not bad there.  I spent a week at the cabins in town
across from Jacques.  Little bit of street noise.  Ok surf break.  Nice
beach to walk on.  Still had to drive to sail.
