Looks like crazy quad training to me....
So you just sink when you stop hopping?
Can't wait for the aftermarket swim fins to appear.....
Still, it looks pretty basic, as you keep hopping to work the flipper
drive system on the down stroke.
I think paddling a surfboard standup uses more different muscles, and
requires balance also.....

Seems to me like one doesn't.  In all the videos I saw, once somebody went in it
was swim time.

Seems like maybe they could so something with buoyant foils - OTOH, it might
increase the surface drag too much.

When I saw the guy riding a wave, I thought of something Laird Hamilton wrote
about trying to develop a hydrofoil that somebody could ride ocean swells on.

Guys, not so fast. What does one of these things cost?

Picture this: Spring Break in S. Padre & Florida.  College and Highschool
kids all over the place.

Get a couple of Hot babes to demo and charge for rides. Demo and challenge
spectators.

Remember we're talking down time due to lack of wind anyway. Didn't see much
wind in any of the videos.

Hey we were all crazy enough to try a windsurfer once. This looks even
easier.

And a heck of a lot slower! I can hop faster than that with one leg in
the closet.

Wow, that is pretty good.  I mean, it says right there on on the web
site that they are going 17 miles per hour.  Most people can't
accelerate to that speed in a closet, even with 2 feet.

This is a riot!  It's strangely compelling and totally goofy at the
same time.  I want to see the human-powered hovercraft.

I was out at Bolinas (SF Bay Area) a couple weeks ago surfin' and there
was some dude paddle-surfing.  I don't know, he was catchin' a lot more
of those long slow rollers than us long boarders.

He was using the ultra longboard, prolly a 12'er.  That's 25% longer
than yours.
When I used to ride river kayaks there, the surfers hated us.  Those
were 9-10', but with carbon paddles 220cms in length.
When I used a custom 17' British wave riding kayak, carbon fiber and
pressed epoxy, at around 19lbs., the surfers never had a ghost of a
chance IF I wanted to wavehog.
But I'm a shortboard surfer also, so stayed well out of the way deep
W at the Patch......

Can you recall a brand/name/maker?

I'm currently in the process of looking for a replacement for my spec surf ski
and that sounds like it might have possibilities.

Any recollection of how wide it was?

  Hi Pete..
It was from that eccentric dude who lives just S of Placerville Ca.,
just E of 49 in that haybarn loft that he uses as home and
boardbuilding factory.
Forgot his name, as my g/f then was a target of his, and actually got
me the yak.
Was 17'7" x around 20" wide, but I never measured it's width.  Had
rounded sides, so would be hard to accurately measure.  Sorta rounded
flat bottom.
My yak at the time was the PerceptionWhippit, the 9' flatbottom hard
sided rodeo yak.
I suspect his idea of "waveriding" and the idea of the longer boats,
was actually riding swells, not the breaking waves into shorebreak.
The longer yak of course like to dig midlength edges, causing almost
pearling, and was steered more with low brace than any kind of body
lean.
I rode Bolinas with it for about 3 waves, then paddled up to the
ramp, got out, walked it to the car, and switched back to my 42lbs
Whippit.  Now that was much better for the chest high shorebreak surf
we got that day, and actually steered by leaning just like a 9'
longboard.
