7.5 sail for Mistral New Malibu

7.5 sail for Mistral New Malibu

I am a lake sailor, use the harnesses now and plane frequently but don't do
jibe turns or waterstart yet.   Need some lessons I think!  Anyway,  I have
a Mistral 6.4 Round with a carbon mast and Naish boom.  Good for good blows
but I need a larger sail for lighter days.

I am 165 lbs. (5' 9").
Any suggestions for a good sail in the 7.5 size or thereabouts?   Preferably
under $500 Canadian (that is about $330 U.S. and 1997 stock okay).

My local board guys in Toronto are suggesting an Aerotech 2 cam slalom sail
for $500 Canadian (not sure of the model).

I would also be interested in used sails in good condition.
Likely I will need a new mast with the sail but my boom should be okay for
the bigger sail.

I highly recommend the 7.5 North Katana. I bought a 96 last spring for a
pretty good deal from Wind ***ion in Kingston so you might want to
check with them for sale prices on 97 models.  The sail rigs really
nicely and is quite light.  The first time I used was a marginal day
(non planning for 6.5 sailors) not only was I planning (on Mistral Echo)
but I was amazed (and so was everyone else) at how easy the sail was to
waterstart.
