Geneva windsurfing

I'm working in Geneva motor show from the middle of next week till
March 17th. Is it worth taking my wetsuit and harness in case it blows
on my days off and are there any hire places around?

thanks

Is it Geneva Switzerland ? Cause if it is, you will get some wind at this
time of year but I would suggest you to choose between your Ski wear and
your full-on dry suit.It is very very very very cold at this time of year
and even the Swiss don't go in the water now. The lac is normally between 0
to 5 degrees Celcius. But the snow is good and Geneva is only 1 hour away
from very nice slopes.

It may blow and there would be quite good sailing. The only rental
i know of is on the beach in Preverenges, between Lausanne and Morges.
But since the water is still quite chilly in Feb. / March (albeit
certainly not fronzen and sailed by some locals) it's probabely
not open, so at leas call ahead before driving up there.
There might be some rental places closer to Geneva, afaik
there i no sailing directly in Geneva however (the lake is quite
narrow down there).

Maybe skiing or snowboarding would be the better alternative in
Switzerland at this time of the year.

As Wolfgang mentionned Preverenges is a good spot and is the best by south
west wind (usually before storms). You get a constant side on-shore wind
from the right. I used to store my board at this windsurf club when I lived
in Lausanne. The club belongs to a chain of sports shops in Lausanne called
"Schaeffer sport". If I remember correctly, during that time of the year,
the club is closed on week days but should be opened on the week-ends.

If you get a wind which they call in Switzerland : Bise, which is from the
north you should then go to St-prex (next to Lausanne) as it will be side
shore and regular. Most other places will have off-shore and with a big
wind shadow at the beginning.
