Stuck base (add to stuck mast??)

Stuck base (add to stuck mast??)

Post by Ron Steri » Tue, 04 May 1993 22:48:38

I see that the problem of stuck masts has come up again
(it's a common problem).

But what about stuck bases?
Currently my base is stuck in my mast,
I figured since I have but 1 mast, that's ok. But ...

The problem is that the base is long and has this
plastic cap at the top. This barely fits into the
mast when clean. Add a little salt water and sand
and it's near impossible to get off.

Any suggestions?
(yes, btw, i did thuroughly flush it with water
before sailing)

Thanks

stuff deleted...

Well, my friend and I unstuck his mast base by tying the downhaul line around
the trailer hitch of my Jeep, and then just pulled real *** the mast.
It worked great.

tie the downhaul line around a tree or a towing hitch and pull from the mast.
