I remember that I once read that some of you could download this newsgroup,
but you also said that some of us couldn't. Do you know why? I've tried
several times to download it, but wen I tried to search it in the News
groups, it doesn't appears. Is there something I can do to get it?
Thanks

I can't get it either. I suppose it is up to your ISP to decide the number of
newsgroups to give acces to.

Your ISP has to list it on their NNTP server. It doesn't matter which
software you use to access newsgroups.  Some ISPs will not carry any
alt.binaries.* . Mine carries them all, I sent a request to ask them to add
it, they said it will be added automatically on their next refresh of their
NNTP server, so I have been waiting.  Interestingly enough, www.dejanews.com
doesn't list it yet either, so it may take awhile. I'm really anxious to see
the pictures there, but I'll have to wait.

I just emailed dejanews and asked them to add it, if they do, we will all
have access through them, regardless of what your ISP does.

I thinks it has more to do with the idea that it is a "binarie"
newsgroup, which translates: ***O, WARES, CRACKS. This is why my ISP
will not carry the newsgroup, as they are a "family" ISP

I have it here on my NASA server. I have noticed however thet the retention
time is short.I posted about 100 one day and they were all gone in a couple of
days. Gotta get 'em while they're hot.

I think this is going to happen no matter where we put them. Anything with
photos or pictures or binaries in the title will be a magnet to these
*** sites. A few is tolerable. I see the turn up in text only sites and
occasionally in rec.windsurfing.
