Hi,

I am heading down for a vacation in Florida and am wondering if anyone
out there has any advice if I should bother bringing my board with me.

I am bringing my kids so I will be a hassle if there is no wind.

Anyone know if there is half decent wave/wind conditions this time of year
or am I just going to be stuck in the extreme head of mickey mouse land

Thanks and regards,

Stu MacKay
Ottawa, Canada

A place where, this year, has no wind, cool nights and rain for the past 10
weekends!

Stu,
Wave sailing on Florida's West Coast in the Summer time??

                             N O T !!!!!!!!

The only chance you'll have is if we get a tropical
storm/hurricane.  The sea breezes are less dependable than here
on the East coast because the Gulf of Mexico is warmer than the
Atlantic. Unless you also brought a long (course) board you'll
        probably be disappointed.

They've had quite bit if rain last week, flooded streets, etc.
I guess you could probably sail in the street. I heard they were
giving Jet-Skis tickets for riding in the streets and making
        wakes go into peoples homes.

I just got back from two days down there.  It's hot and HOT.
Not windy -   HOT.  Your car's got to be 150 degrees when you
get in it.  But it's humid, so it really feels hot.  Bring your
swimsuit.  I wouldn't bring the WS equipment.

Now watch - it'll blow and you'll hate me.

        (I was in Tampa/St. Pete.)

INFO REQUESTED, SOUTH FLORIDA, SEPT - DEC.

A windsurfing friend of mine (without net access) is going to "study"
at the University of South Florida (Tampa?) for 4/5 months (September
to December). I think we got the message that shortboarding is out for
the summer months:

What about after summer? Should he try and take a board? What kind of
conditions might he expect? Are there any places to hire gear? Any
advice and help greatly appreciated. (Email direct to me is fine)

Cheers,

Dave.
