Saxo board choice

I had sailed my Bic Veloce 288 for a few years - usually with a 6.5 - when I
took some advice from this NG and got a Bee 289 and a Retro 7.5 this year. I
love this combination for the predominate low wind and gusty conditions I
sail in, and when I'm lucky enough to have more wind I rig the 6.5 with
either board. However the Veloce isn't getting much use. That being the
case, I am considering trading it in for  smaller board with less overlap
with the Bee. It would be used for those rare Ontario days when I can sail
with my 5.5 or 4.6 and for my annual trip to Hatteras - hopefully getting
into B & J sailing.
I am currently looking at a Saxo 270 demonstrator and a 2 yr. old (used)
Saxo 264. I weigh 155 lbs. and I am comfortable in straps and waterstarting
(but blow 50 % of my gibes and the rest aren't pretty). I would appreciate
advice on choosing between these two boards.              Laurie

The Saxo 270 is a better all around shape, and for a person 155 lbs, you can
comfortably sail it from about 5.0 to 6.5.  Of course you could also go a
little bigger or a little smaller in sail size.  The other thing is that the
Saxo 270 is one of the easiest boards to jibe.  Its relatively flat rocker and
weight help it keep speed through jibes and the amount of vee makes it smooth
through chop.  A nice all around board.
