Do you have an old sailboard taking up space in your garage?
Do you have equipment that you haven't used for more than a year?

You could put it to good use and maybe even get a tax deduction
out of it by donating it to the San Francisco Bay Area Council
of the Boy Scouts of America.  They have a scout camp in Northern
California just outside of Willits called Wente Scout Reservation
which has a lake that is just about perfect for teaching windsurfing.
They have lots of sailboats, but only two old windsurfers.

I will be going up there again in mid-August and would be willing
to pick up any donated equipment and take it to the scout camp
(offer applies to the San Francisco Bay Area only, I did my best to
limit the distribution of this message).  I'm still working on the
details of getting the right signatures so that any donated equipment
could be written off on your taxes.  Any and all equipment donations
would be put to good use and would be greatly appreciated.

Consider this a good opportunity to help get more people started in
the sport.  You might even be able to sell them your used equipment
in a few years.  :-)

If you're interested, please contact me either by e-mail or phone.

The Boy Scouts' declaration that gay people are unfit to either
participate in or lead scouting activities is insulting and biggotted.
Although racism isn't technically the correct term, the mind set is the
same.  For this reason, I would like to encourage people to find another
charity to donate their used equipment to as a form of protest.

My appologies for posting this to a newsgroup that is supposed to be
devoted to windsurfing.  Perhaps you will excuse the invasion when you
consider the seriousness of the situation regarding the treatment of
gays in our culture.  Also, my appologies to Scott if he doesn't mean
to condone the Boy Scouts' policy through his participation and
appreciation of the good they do for the rest of the youth in our
society.
