Key-Lock 'Biners: Where have they gone?

Post by Jerry Cag » Tue, 22 Aug 1995 04:00:00

What ever happened to the key-lock 'biners that were introduced several
years ago? If my memory serves me correctly they were mfd by Bonati and
distributed by 5.10. They were supposed to be an improvement over the
standard notch and pin. I don't see them offered for sale in stores or
catalogs anymore. Were they determined to be unsafe...?

You must not have been looking very hard.  Most climbing stores, including
REI (I know this is quite far reaching) sell Petzl Spirits, one of the most
popular carabiners on the market.

If you're interested in Kong carabiners try Climb Axe (206) 734-8433 or
your local Sportmart (stretching things even further ;-).

Where have all the keylocks gone?
Long climb passing...
Where have all the keylocks gone?
Long climb ago...
Where have all the keylocks gone?
Gone to petzl and kong, everyone.
