West Virginia's "Woodland wall" crags closed!

Hi
For those of you who climb at Woodland wall on route 7 near Morgan
Town in West ***ia (a favourite among climbers from the Pittsburgh
area) the news is that it is no longer available for climbing, hiking
or even picking your nose. We were very firmly informed by local law
enforcement that we would be arrested if we climbed there again and
that the area was off limits for keeps.

The owner of the land is responsible for closing it to climbers. I
have his details so responsible parties can contact me for these if
they are intersted in taking this issue up with him.

 Dave,
Contact the Access Fund before you contact the landowner. They have a lot
of experience in these matters, and first impressions mean a lot.

I am aware of the situation at Woodland Wall, and have been continuing the
dialogue between the landowner and the Access Fund.  Our best hope to open
this area is to gain the respect of the owner and convince him that doing so
helps the Morgantown, WV area (e.g. by increasing tourism and providing unique
recrqeational oppportunities).

Continuing to climb at Woodland Wall will only make matters worse by further
upsetting the owner.  Please: Do not climb at Woodland Wall, WV.
