Hi,  Just recently got onto the NET and was totally thrilled to discover a
Newsgroup on climbing.  I live in Fredericton, New Brunswick in maritime
Canada and am travelling to Dallas soon on business.  If anyone has some info
on climbing areas close to there  or even the names of any climbing gyms in
the area, it would be greatly appreciated.  Thanx...

There is not a lot of natural climbing around Dallas.  But there are three
gyms in the town.  They are Exposure, Dyno Rock and StoneWorks.  Exposure
is located in north Dallas and is about 20 feet tall, Dyno Rock is located
in Arlington (between Dallas and Fort Worth) and is 30 feet tall,
StoneWorks is located in Carollton and is 110 feet tall.  StoneWorks is
the tallest indoor climbing gym in the world.

I would recommend stopping in at StoneWorks.  It is wild pulling down on
plastic for 110 feet.  The number for StoneWorks is 323-1047.

There are several gyms here in Dallas, including the world's largest,
Stoneworks.  That's where I'm headed in about 10 minutes...

Stoneworks is at the SE corner of I-35 and Beltline in Carrolton (a few minutes
NW of Dallas).  It is an old grain silo...you can climb indoors or outdoors.
The tallest climb is 110'.  It costs $8 + $5 if you need gear for an all day
pass.  Most climbs are straight up...sometimes in very narrow enclosures, which
is really cool.

Exposure is another gym, located in Addison (in North Dallas).  It is a few
miles north of 635 on Midway (left hand side of the street).  Exposure's walls
aren't quite as high, but there are more walls that are slanted out.  They
charge around $15 for a day pass & gear unless you have a coupon.  You can get
2 for 1 coupons (pass & gear) in the Dallas Observer.

Look me up if you need a belayer...
