Climbing in or near Dallas

I'm posting the following for a friend that does not
have net access.  You can e-mail me and I'll forward
to him.

--------------------

Does anyone have information on rock gyms in the Dallas
area?  I know climbing areas are a long shot, but
information on _any_ type of climbing within a 5 hour
radius would be appreciated.  I'll be attending graduate school
beginning this August at the University of North Texas and
will desperatly miss Colorado's mountains.

Thanks,

Brian Selby

Brian:

for amu***t park type climbing try Mineral Wells State Park about an hour
and a half from Denton.  The Wichita mountains in Oklahoma (three hours
drive) are the best place that is close, and people from DFW go up there to
climb all the time.

I have heard of climbing gyms in Dallas, but I have never been to any,
although REI just opened a new store in North Dallas and they have a nice
wall.

Unfortunately, most peoples idea of climbing in this area is into the cab of
their pickem up truck.

Welcome to Tejas.

There's also Enchanted Rock near Fredricksburg and the Matilda Ave (St?)
Bridge over the railroad tracks just east of SMU.
