Climbing Industry Statistics and Climbing gear (help: MBA student doing research)

I am an MBA student attending the University of Houston and am
currently taking a business strategies course.  I have been assigned
the task of looking at the outdoor recreation industry, specifically
the rock climbing segment, with respect to industry position and
strategies and if the industry is or is not in a growth pattern, etc.
I am in need of basic industry stats such as overall market size(in $),
estimated number of climbers in the U.S., size of outdoor market vs.
indoor climbing market, industry predictions, etc. If anyone has a good
resource for this info I would certainly appreciate the info.

Also, as an informal poll, what products come to mind when you hear
the following company names?:

1) Metolius
2) Misty Mountain
3) Rocktonics
4) Megalith
5) Bison
6) Black Diamond

Also, for each company, indicate the level of brand name recognition
and quality of product that each company represents to you
(10= high level of recognition and quality, 1=never heard of the
company/low quality products).

Thanks in advance for anyone who gets back to me on this.

Dave
