pants suggestions?

Post by nomi » Sun, 10 Nov 2002 03:41:19

I'm looking for some climbing pants with the ff:

durable
nylon or light nylon/cotton blend - no lining
gussetted crotch
zippered ankles or pretty baggy so I can take them on/off without removing shoes

Any suggestions?

Many thanks -

Nom

Prana has several pairs of pants that meet most if not all of your criteria.
I have a had a pair for about year, and they are holding up nicely.

Why not just buy a pair of $20 nylon gym pants?  Most of those have
zippered ankles and enough flexibility to not require a gussetted crotch
(though some have them anyway).  Or you could spend $60 on a pair of
Prana pants or something.  Personally I have 1 item of "climbing"
clothing and it was a gift.  I climb in BDUs (camouflage for you
non-military types), cut off or full length, or in home sewn fleece
pants that make me look like I'm wearing a diaper.  Either way I'm super
comfortable, have more than enough flexibility, and both wear very well.
YMMV of course, but why do they need to be "climbing pants"?

sweet bro, then when that deer is strolling by you can be all camo and snipe
it with your bow! BOO-YAH.

just kidding man, I've had people openly mock my pants on nearly every
occasion I go out. Plus, I've taken to wearing white socks with my climb
shoes - so when I'm bouldering I can hear snickers of  "nice socks"... F
'em, I say. My shoes don't stink and I still climb better with one hand than
those hip-sters. I'll take the extra cash I save on clothes and get a ***
to tongue punch my dirt star.

I've got to go with bkr here.  A couple days before a fall climbing trip
last year I bought the cheapest pair of cargo pants I could find at
Marshall's or TJMaxx, for about $15.  Happened to be Levi's silver-tab
cargo pants.  Thermals layer nicely under them, and I have some fancy
waterproof pants for when it rains.  In the meantime, the cheap pants get
all the wear and tear.

My spiffy Prana shorts were cheap at the end-of-the-season clearance sale a
few years ago, but they're pretty damn thin.  Probably my least favorite
shorts if I'm going to be*** in the harness for a while.

Why didn't Jason mention the visit with women of the night as a part of the
JLE?!?
