New Year, New Spring, New Climbing Season...

Shall we get this all out of the way now...

1. How do I mark the middle of my rope?
2. Which knot is better, a figure 8 or bowlin'?
3. I dropped my biner should I through it in the garbage?
4. I have a gri-gri, and I keep telling my friends I don't have to hold the
rope anymore but they don't believe me.
5. I started climbing last week, and would like to know how I can
climb/belay myself.
6. Do I need clampons to climb a mountain?
7. Is chalk really needed for climbing?
8. Do I really need to double back my harness straps?
9. I bid on a climbing experience by some Jason guy on eBay, and I have not
heard anything back yet? Who is this guy?
10. Why does Lord Slime hate me so much?
11. What is a belay knife?
12. What kind of bolts should I buy at Home Depot, so I can bolt my local
crag?

13.  Why are people so hostile when we  top rope (all day) the first
pitch of the most popular climb in the area?
After all, we got there first....

Do I detect cynicism?  Some things change.  For question 2, you might
have some asking about a zeppelin loop.

http://www.geocities.com/roo_two/zeppelinloop.html

I recently got a nudge to include it on my site.  I'm not sure how
climbers might view it.

Cheers,
roo

Sure, at least the chalkbag is - that's how you know a real climber
(tm).

I hear you can use a tibloc to keep the leader from being pulled off if the
second falls while simulclimbing; is this safe?

13. If I should run into a know-it-all rec.climber who actually displays the
same attitude and mouths off in person like he does when parked behind his
computer (I know, unlikely), what's the best way to deal with it?  Smack him
in the mouth or just sever his right pinky so he can no longer type the word
"moron" 60 times in every post?
