So - some of you couch knot experts throw out your expert knowledge
(ahem...opinion).  Which one is better/stronger?  What's the advans and
disadvans of each?

It's my belief that the bowline (with tail inside) is more secure (not
stronger) than the Dutch Marine Bowline. This is based on the similarity to
the sheet-bend which is generally regarded as less secure with the tails
opposing.  However, with a stopper tied in the tail it probably makes no
difference.
