The Olympics are over, "Dan" has been establish as the so called "The World greatest
athlete" . My mind begins to ponder how we would establish "The world greatest Kite
Flier" ? Please dont take this post that seriously but what three events would you
propose for a triathlon of kiting?
1)  A Single line Comprehensive, A ballet, and a fighter kite battle
2)  A Buggy race, A Rok battle and a High altitude contest.

That would your 3 events be?

Also how would you run the completion? Individual events, or something like a triathlons
were you would finish the buggy race and go right to the next event?

Have some fun with this.

--Fighter kite battle (cutting line), Buggy race (50 miles, covering all
portions of El Mirage), Foil making and test fly (minimium 5 square meters,
points awarded for performance, all the same design)--

Triathalon formate except for the fighter kite battle.  Held at
El Mirage.   If the desert winds are up, one would need a vented fighter
kite (don't see to much of these) for the battle.  The most well packed
buggy would do well (change of kites, bolts, fix-a-flat, lunch, all on
the buggy).  Points would be given for best times from the start of the
buggy race to the end of the foil making.

It would be loads of fun (and very tiring).

   hmm...

1) Trick Flying
2) Ballet Flying
3) Comedic Effect

Is this fair, or am I skewing the contestant pool ?

in that order)?

... With the three events listed above, it would have to be individual
unless a suitable indoor venue is provided adjacent to the Ballet/Buggy
field.

...Best site for such a competition would have to be Wildwood, since the
Convention Centre (indoor) is right there by the beach.

I have only one event, how about this one:

"untangling tangled quad-lines in high winds (of course - kite attached
to the line) while it is raining at night"

Actually, I don't think three events would be enough. I like the
first coice, but what about buggying? And instead of simply a
ballet, how about some precission? After all they still have
a mandatory round in many, gymnastics comes to mind, competitions.

So maybe a pentathalon would be better. :-)

From the Olympic city, site of the *best* games ever (even if Juan
won't say it), Atlanta, Georgia, USA.

Dan didn't get his medal for only three events.  Why stop there? The title
World's Greatest Athelete is based on the decathelon. The decathelon has
the ten events with duplication for various distances in running.
I propose something like:
1 fighter tricks and one on one fights, maybe even manja fight
2 buggy pursuit and any other events
3 dual line precision
4 quadline precision
5 roc battle
and others?

The "modern" pentathelon is patterned on a messenger carrying on a mission
where they ride a horse have to fight with pistol and sword, run and swim
to finish successfully. That format might parallel the triathalon format
better?

Where might these ideas lead this challenge? 8>)}

Wow, my mind boggles at this. Why would we ever want to do such a
thing? Doesn't the mere effort suggest that we're missing the
point of it all.  Very non-aoxomoxoa! And that by the way is my
first ever reference to that concept!!

Hmmm... The obvious way to mix buggying and kite construction is to
have 1 race, where you start with a sewing machine, some fabric and some
line, and the winner is the first person to build a kite and use
it to buggy to a point (say) 3 miles directly upwind of the start.

Now this is fun...

My events would take place in South Padre Island, TX. That's the best place to have it.

        1) Launching a 252 Flowform with a 500ft' lead (no wind).
        2) Buggy enduro from South Padre to Corpus Christi, TX (good wind).
        3) Rok Battle (big Roks in high winds).

South Padre has got to be the best place on the face of the earth to host an event like
this because it the only place on earth with a beach long enough and winds to host it.

Yup!

It's gotta be South Padre or no where.
