Does anyone have any views on the warrior by PBSK?

Great kite. Warrior UL. Very smooth, light handling kite.  I started out with
PBSK kites on a used BadBoy UL and a used WindWhip.  Flew those kites all the
time and decided I liked how Betancourt's kites felt.  Very different from
Prism, HQ, and Benson.  In my opinion, the Warrior is the best kite I have.
Still getting used to the minimal input it takes to pop a trick but I cannot
believe how the kite recovers from blown tricks.  Easy kite to try new tricks
on.  Goes on and off its back with ease.  Fades well.  Not quite as much
float as the WindWhip but that isn't a minus.  For a small kite the float is
very good.  Construction is topnotch.  Though the Warrior is marketed as a
radical trickster, I would classify the kite as a solid A+ all around
performer.  Good precision.  Betancourt makes light kites that fly very well
in a wide wind range.  Added plus - your shoulders don't take a beating doing
tricks for extended amounts of time.  If I could only keep one kite it would
be the Warrior though I sure would miss the WindWhip.

Hi Steve,

I only have about 45 minutes of air time between two different framed versions
of the Warrior, (5PT & 3PT) and only in turbulent San Ramon and Berkeley
winds, so my observations are limited.

In these conditions, freestyle is the name of the game and in this respect
the Warrior shines. I've no idea of it's (overall) precision in these less than
ideal
wind conditions but from a trick and trick-transition standpoint the Warrior is
a
supurb kite.

Fades are easy and relatively stable in less than ideal winds.
Flick-flacks also come easy. Fountains, flip-flops and cascades are second
nature,
Warrior likes to rise in most flat spin tricks. I have not succeeded with any
backspins
/rotating fades, but this is most likely my fault, rather than the Warriors.
Backflips are easy and stable, requireing little effort for controlled
recoveries.

I enjoy the mixture of precision and trickability, the lift generated in flat
spins and
it's unabashed good looks. It is a stunning example of performance kite art
and has the ability to be "user friendly" as well, making it quite accessable
to the
masses (inspite of it's cost).

Beyond it's flight abilities, Warrior is absolutely beautiful to look at for
hours on end.
This is (IMHO) one of the most beautifull dual line kite designs (especialy in
rainbow!)
available and has performance to match its good looks. The price of admittance
is high,
but the rewards are great. If you love to fly, you'd probably love a Warrior.

For a more in depth review of the Warrior, have a look at Allen Stroh's web
site at:
http://home.san.rr.com/kites/menu.html

He's a major PBSK junkie, a good friend, and has more experience with the
Warrior
than anyone I know.

Hope that helps!

front, back, left side, right side, all around the wind window.
I won't belabor how agile the kite is and I won't restate all the things
it can do (and I cant). In the hands of a average flyer it makes you look good. In the
hands of a great flyer it can do anything they want. It is stable, quick, yet tricks to
no end (and recovers from your mistakes amazingly well).
I have two in my bag (an XP and a standard<custom>),
and two more (UL<custom> and vented) on order.
Check out the custom one at

It is my kite of choice since I got it.
See allen's review for glowing poetic words of praise (which it deserves).

the review is also accessible through peter's web site

want to fly mine? ... give me a buzz... I'd love to let you take it for a spin :)
I'm in new jersey though... and you'll have to pry it out of my hands...

Although all of peters kites come at a price premium, the attention to detail,
and the ability to have it customized are worth every penny. I really doubt you will be
disappointed with the investment.

Thanks to all who took the time to share your comments about the
Warrior. It's this kind of flyer feedback that lets me know that what
I've created is working. I'll keep doing my thing in the studio, and you
keep doing your fun in the Wind!

I just got my new Warrior and flew it for the first time at Berkeley.
I've been in love with my new Elixir because it is so easy to trick. The
warrior rivals the elixir for trickability and feels even better on the
end of my lines. I only got to fly for a half hour or so, so I haven't
really explored everything it can do. I love all of Peter's kites and
this one is the best so far.
