Im trying to find a way to put a permanent bend into .025 hollow carbon
fiber rods.

can anybody help me, or is it even possible.

thanks in advance.

Someone should introduce you to the benefits of natural fibers...ie: bamboo

unless you can make the rods your self,  then I would suggest tying a
string from one end of the rod to the other end of the rod... (kinda
like you would string a BOW for a bow and arrow)

or if its going to be a leading edge then sew a curved pocket and put
the rod in with tension on it...

what are you planning with such a project????

I know the .025 microcarbon he's talking about. AVIA produces it and it's as
fine as spaghetti. Very cool carbon to work with. I suspect that he's trying to
heat bend it into a V shape which heck...I would love to see if he has good
results from it. I don't know anyone who has tried.

But he might have better results with dihedral fittings...if someone makes them
that small.

hmmmm....... how much of a bend? where is the bend along the length of the
rod?  would it be possible to use two rods connection with a small fitting?

I once had a small Fighter made by Ed Shenk, The spine was graphite (not
sure of the diameter) and had a permanent bend.  Ed split the rod, placed it
into a jig and CA'd it back together.  Surprisingly, it held together very
well.

more info please.....

Similarly, you can put a small brass or aluminum tube over the graphite
and bend both.  The metal tube will hold the shape.

suggestions sofar are very good im going to try a few and see what i can
get.

p.s. it is the leading edge, im trying to put a curve in the wingtips.

The Alien uses a metal Ferrell that's bent. wouldn't be an arched bend, but
it works too.

If you want to be as rich as Bill Gates, figure out a way to change
the shape of a cured sheet, tube, or molding of carbon fiber without
affecting its physical characteristics.

A quote from a seminar at the last AKA convention. It was hosted by
one of the founders of Avia.  He put on a great show.
