Fiber glas rods wanted

Post by Roger Willems & Marjo Voncke » Mon, 14 Sep 1998 04:00:00

Hi,

We are planning to build a few very large antenna's in a different
manner than the usual way (allu pipes). The prices in the so call's
"kite shops" are far to expensive.

Who knows the manufacturers / wholesalers off fiber and / or carbon
fiber rods ?

Many thanks in advance,

Roger Willems

Hmmm... I'm not sure that antenna is the right translation from whatever
the dutch word you are thinking of.  I'll guess that you mean "banner"
or "flag".

Most folk use a telescopic pole.  You can pick up cheap blank rods from a
fishing shop for a very reasonable price.

Maybe it is. Maybe they just want a "real" antenna. For radio stuff...
Replace the usual aluminum pole with one of another material.
I doubt if fiber glass is any good though, it's probably flexes too much.
(picture a 4m yagi antenna on a 10m glass fiber pole, swinging
to and fro in 6-7 bft...)
Carbon would be better, but might be too conductive... I don't know,
never tried it.

BTW.. Hi Andrew. :-) long time no type.
