carbon fibre rods

Hi there !

I'm  looking for  a  carbon fibre rod source  in
the Toronto area.   I've checked the Yellow Pages
for  a kite  store but can't seem to find any.

p.s.   As you may have guessed, i'm not a kite builder/flyer but
i figure carbon fibre is likely  used in  the hobby.

thanks,

mark.

Hi Mark;
There's one kite store in Etobicoke;
Touch The Sky Inc
                 71 Judson, Etobicoke
                 (416) 252-3200
I never been there myself so I don't know what supplies they have.
Another place to look is this page on the Toronto Kite Fliers (club)
website;
http://webhome.idirect.com/~knm/tkf/links.htm nder 'Canadian Kite
Companies' - some of them sell supplies.

You best bet to find exactly what you want is to go through a US
company, unless you
can find one in Canada. There are 2 major manufacturers in the kiting
industry, AVIA
and Skyshark. I think both of them are capable of doing custom orders. I
know Avia is
because they do cf for medical and other stuff. Skyshark mostly does
just rods, which
are used by other industries like Archery and Model Airplanes. Anyway,
the Skyshark
web page is www.skyshark.com and is distributed through
www.skyburner.com. Avia
stuff you can get directly from Avia if you are purchasing in bulk. It
kinda depends on what
you are looking for, since their products are different.  Are you
looking for pultruded carbon,
wrapped, straight, or tapered rods. Also what purposes?
