Possibly because of html content, it seems that the original post on this
thread (and some others like it) come through as blank pages, at least with
the version of M'soft Internet Mail and News that comes with Internet
Explorer 3.0

Eeeck, do I really need to upgrade my browser to receive posts sent this way?

Just wondering, that's all.

Time to upgrade! - 4.0 IS FREE  don't upgrade it for these posts - upgrade
it for the 100's of other features you're missing out on.

Okay, admittedly I've been holding off on this upgrade for some time.  Can I
have some assurances that I won't be disappointed by glitches, bugs, and
other *** stuff?  <g>

On the verge of taking the plunge...

Bad form to respond to my own question, but I've just discovered that hitting
"reply" on the blank post results in the post now showing, with the usual
quotation marks for a reply.  This is a possible workaround for those
similarly afflicted :)

Actually, the newest version is 4.01 with SPI (Does anyone out there know
what the HELL that is?). It also includes updated JAVA bits.
Just upgraded last night!

See you in the sky,

Dan

You wouldn't believe the probs I had with IE4.  Changed to Netscape and
end of worries - downside is a different system to learn, and Explorer
is an MS product - so (technically) fits in with windoze. Still - I'm
happy with Netscape and also was happy with Explorer(until those odd
little characters began appearing).  It's a matter of personal choice as
far as I can see, rather that which is best.  Somewhere in IE is a
preference to allow the reception of HTML, but that may be for receive -
can't remember. :O)

Aik - who uses Netscape now out of spite - BG gets more money than me
:O)

Heya.....
I have IE5 and adore it. Used to beta test IE back in the pre 2.0 days. Dumped
it when Billy got a little too agressive with messing up my current copy of
Netscape.  I was sick of fighting the browser wars on my hard disk. Kept
wishing those boyz would take it outside and just let me test my html on both
of them without any *ahem* BS!

So, if you would like to install IE5 I can't recommend it highly enough. The
new task bar/bookmark config is supremely cool.  Only bugs I've discovered are
little cosmetic annoyances and I'm still trying to get Outlook Express
configured properly so it doesn't post in HTML....the problem that started this
thread.

Anyway, to answer your Q....SPI doesn't exist in version 5.0. At least I can't
find it in the Index or in the Online Tutorial. Whatever it was, it doesn't
appear to be around anymore. But if someone else finds out what it is, I'd be
interested in knowing. Happy Browsing, Ellen
