I'm looking for a second hand mountain board or possibly a secondhand buggy.

Nice how some idiots respond to a question. This isint the general
attitude (at least i hope not, most people seem to be quite chilled
here).
I cant really advise you on a board as ive not had too much experience
on em so ill cut to the buggy.

 Get the best you can afford.if you can afford one get a libre V Max
and you will never have to upgrade (well not untill the next major
revolution in design) they seriously do the buisness. A peter lynn or
flexifoil competition will give you hours of undiluted grin factor
with not too much else to worry about. They can take quite a beating
without too much complaint.
if space is a problem check out the peter lynn folding, its easy to
store and quite strong to boot. What are you buggying on ?
if you will be on soft sand then look at the bigfoot option, there
more expensive but worth it.
best thing to do is to try some out if oyu can, this helps make the
choice
