I bought an X-tro as a beginners kites but found that
it needed more skill than I had at the time. Its a quick little kite and
in a good wind will zip about, if you're not careful with it you'll be
constantly re- launching it. I found that a bigger kite was better for
learning and bought a Box of Tricks, now I find I can fly the X-tro
having learned the basics on a gentler kite. In lighter wind conditions
the X-tro needs lighter lines than those supplied I use 80lb spectra lines
and she responds very well.
I use the Dyneema lines supplied to fly my BOT.
I would finally suggest that you get down to your local
kite club and see if you can get a fly with some of the kites on your
list. You can then think about what suits you best.
