The most active IRC channel is #kites on DALNET.

There is a decent group of kite enthusiast on the #kites channel
(dalnet). Most users log into the wewbzone server. Euros in the mornings
(Eastern US time) and Americans & Aussies in the late evening. You can
usually find a few folk logged in from work during the afternoon, but
it's kinda quiet. Here is a web page dedicated to this channel -
        http://www.***enet.net/~synergy/kiteschat/

Hope to see you there,

I've got IRC questions for anyone who knows
the answer (which is probably everyone but me. <g>)

    I usually get to #kites through "webzone.ok.us.dal.net".
However, I have used "irc.dal.net".  One question
is, no matter what server I use, as long as it ends
in "dal.net" it will connect me to the SAME "#kites",
right?

Also, if I use any of the other "{Whatever}.NET"
servers, will it STILL connect me with the SAME
"#kites" as everyone else at the same time using
"dal.net", or will it connect me to ANOTHER separate
"#kites"?

    Thanks for the info.

Any Dalnet server will connect to #kites in Dalnet.  However, any other server
will not. it must be a Dalnet server to reach #kites where we all hang out. If
you have more questions just ask and I would be glad to help.  ; )

A group of servers connect to form an IRC network with each other.
They propagate a list of currently connected clients and existing
channels between them, so connecting to any of these servers gets you
the same user/channel list.  The three main IRC networks are EFNet (the
original), DALNet, and Undernet.  You can find a list of DALNet servers
from http://www.dal.net/servers/index.html.
