American Kite Magazine (Late)

I just talked with the people at American Kite Magazine and they said
that they will be combining thier Winter and Spring issues of the
magazine. Unfortunately, the people at AKM said that it will be another
30 days until the winter/sprin issue will be sent out. They said the
reason for the problem is because they moved thier business location and
have been trying to get reorganized.

In the mean time visit the AKA website kite events calender for a
complete, up to date listing of all kite events.

If you live in AKA regions 7 & 8 you may view a complete list of kite
festival activities, by visiting my website. My calender page URL is
listed at the botto of this page.

Well, the last issue of American Kite I have is the Fall 1998 issue.  And,
yes, there were Spring and Summer '98 issues of that mag.  Troy's post
updates us on AK -- I guess we'll see how it pans out.

Things are definitely tough for the print mags these days.  Sport Kiting --
gone as far as I know.  KiteLines on hold since  Winter '97-98 or so (I
think); even Kite Passion, which has been pretty good on getting the mag out
on a schedule, relatively speaking, had to drop back to bimonthly after a
brief foray into being published (almost) monthly.

Good to see the AKA's Kiting take a run at the glossy mag venue.  A ways to
go perhaps, but a light in an otherwise fairly dim picture at least on the
North American scene...

I still think it's nice to curl up on a couch, in bed, or in the john with a
mag now and then.

Unfortunately, this is what they've been saying since at least last summer,
when I called about not getting the Spring '98 issue...I was told that they
hadn't published anything since the Winter '98 issue, but that they'd be
getting a Fall '98 issue out 'soon' -- this was in August of last year...

Obviously there wasn't a Fall '98 issue...When I called in early December to
find out where it was, I was told they still hadn't published a new issue, but
would 'definitely' have one out for the beginning of the new year...

Then I read here where others were told early in the year that there would
'definitely' be an issue coming out by the end of February...

Now you say they claim they'll have an issue out in another month's time...
that'll make it the end of April...and at least 8 months of a new issue
'soon'...

Remember the story of the boy who called 'wolf' too often?  Or the little
Dutch boy who claimed one too many times that the dike was failing?
